so they didnt know before. fear had to have an idea if he was the one to open the door in the first place - because if he hadnt then hope wouldnt have the energy to revive any of you, right?

Yes. And Fear would have run out of energy while trying to ensure Hope's safety and the two of then would have died, ending our species.

The Door is far older than all of us, in a different form than any of us are familiar with. I wouldn't blame Fear for not being able to recognize it for what it is.

well it would at least end the part of your species that arent being used as powerhouses for the null. not that thats any way to live either.

to both of those things.

You know that we reproduce by partitioning off a piece of ourselves. You also know that, in the same vein, our blessings are a fragment of our bodies capable of being stored inside of objects and bestowing power.

What the Door is.... it's something in between.

If that's how you want to think about it.

To answer your earlier question- it's alive but it isn't exactly sentient. It can't communicate like you or I, it has a purpose and it executes that purpose when proper instruction is given.

You must understand also, that this creature is incredibly old. Thousands, tens of thousands or years have passed since its creation. We have evolved from the beings who created it.

That makes it incredibly dangerous. Our species has not always been.... palatable.

i understand better than some are probably willing to.

with those fragments that null located assembled and in the hands of people here, how dangerous does that make the door then? people are obviously going to try and get their hands on it in hopes that they'll be able to control it, but i don't think it'll be that easy.

If we're being honest, the fragments may prove very useful. By themselves, they aren't a danger to anyone, so if your people want to collect them then I have no objection.

Nevertheless, the Door was buried and hidden for a reason. It's dangerous for even us to interact with it for very long... this is an object that is so powerful, it transports living things from other worlds- and it is attracted to the chaos, to those of you who are in discord and strife. What does that tell you?

it tells me that the door would probably be a great god of assholes if it was more like you.
but seriously, tho. it sounds like the way youre telling it, drilling a big hole in the middle of the colosseum would be a terrible idea.
bet people are going to try anyway, now that they know where it's located.

If my theories are correct, they will alter the functionality of the Door and allow us to use it for other purposes.

Yes, exactly. We can stop humans from transporting matter to the Door, but we can't stop you from physically going there... which would be inadvisable, as I believe that close proximity to it would be damaging enough to drive sentient creatures to madness.

at least thatll keep it from coming into contact with those here who would abuse it and/or make things even worse for us here.

It could be possible to direct it... to make it open both ways. To choose the target destination or give it more detailed instructions. Right now it's operating on a very simple directive and fluctuating significantly enough that we run the risk of drawing the Null to us. I'd like to mitigate that risk.

One would hope. I will not tolerate insanity among you.

now thats what i wanted to hear. if your theory is right then those are benefits that will work in both our favor.

hate to break it to you this but there's already enough insanity among us. tho less insanity would be nice.
